League A.G.M (2003)
Minutes of the last Cardiff & District Table Tennis League A.G.M.
This was held at the Fairwater conservative club on Monday the 17th of May 2004.

Death of Jean Beer
The Chairman informed the meeting that during the year of the sad loss of Jean Beer who had been an Officer of the League for many years and a tireless worker for Table Tennis both in Cardiff League, Glamorgan Association and the TTAW and will be sadly missed. As a mark of respect the Meeting stood for a minutes silence.
Minutes of last A.G.M
The meeting agreed the minutes of the 2003 A.G.M. and these were duly signed by the Chairman.
Chairmans Report
In his report the Chairman said it had been an enjoyable season and with regard to the Juniors it had been very successful with two Junior divisions playing at the Eastern Leisure Center.
He wished to thanks Bob Cummins daughter and Paul Holliday for their
part in donating trophies for the Junior League and also to all the
coaches and helpers who made it possible.
He said that the schools programme was carrying on in three schools and he thanked the coaches concerned for their help and asked if any other players wished to give assistance it would be appreciated.
In closing he said he wished to convey his thanks to the Management Committee who had supported him throughout the season.
Treasurers Report
The Treasurer gave a brief report about the financial position
saying that the season started with a balance of 4762 and closing with
5164 but there are still some payments to be made and the balance
sheet will be presented to the pre-season Meeting once it has been
audited. He said there would be no increase in feed normally but as
monies are required for coaching he recommended that there be an
increase of 10 to assist with this but only for senior players.
Secretarys Report
The secretary reported that the season started with 45 teams in the
League compared with 53 teams the previous season, a loss of 8
teams in Division 5 and ended the season with 42 teams which was very
poor for teams in Division 4.
A junior League was run during the season and it is to be hoped that this will stimulate further interest for next season.
The secretary then thanked all Club Secretaries for their help
during the season and also to the Officers and the Management Committee
which enables the League to run smoothly.
Cardiff Closed Tournament
The Cardiff Closed tournament was run later this year and the entries were slightly down.
The tournament was successful and went according to the programme
thanks to the able assistance of Derek Clarke but there was no queue of
helpers waiting in the sidelines.

Cup Competitions
The Cup Competition Secretary said he had been quite happy with the
way the season had gone but was always open to suggestions for any
changes that may be forthcoming. The Cup winners were as follows:-
- W.G. Clement Cup, Rhiwbina (A) beat Park (A)
- Montague Burton Cup, Park (D) beat W/F Penmark (B)
- D.G. Fowles Cup, Fairwater Cons (C) beat Heath (C)
Eastern Club
This has once again been kept going thanks to the influx of Juniors but more Seniors would be appreciated.
Election of Officers
The following were elected for next season:-

Honaraia
To be carried on with allowance to be made in line with inflation.
Central Venue
The possibility was mooted once again and clubs were asked to come to the pre-season meeting with any feedback.
Additional 10 fees
The meeting voted in favour of the additional 10 fee to assist with the paying of coaches.
Proposed rule changes
The following rule changes were proposed by Barry Ath & T.T. Club
- Rule 18. add after ".. all points won in each match." If two teams have the same number of points, the leam with the lesser number of points won (and awarded) against it will be considered to be in a higher position in the division. (Carried)
- Rule 29 (ii) insert after ".. 48 hours and agrees to play the match before the due date or agrees to .." (Carried)
- Rule 29 (ii) instead of ".. If the Secretary of the non-defaulting club feels that the opposing club is being unreasonable in agreeing to a revised date .." Insert "If a secretary considers that the other secretary is being unreasonable by not agreeing to a revised date .." (Carried)
- Rule 29 (v) delete (Carried)
- Rule 47, Instead of "There will be no double played .. Burton
Cup", Insert "All W G Clement and Burton Cup matches will consist of
three players of one team playing each of the three players in the
opposing team (i.e. nine singles events consisting of the best of three
games with no doubles event). The first player to reach 21 points in a
game is the winner of that game (i.e. winning by two clear points after
20 points is not necessary). The score of every game will commence with
the score of the individual handicaps of the player (e.g. a game could
start at 2-19) (Not Carried)
- Rules 57,58,59 should be repositioned in a more appropriate place in the rule book i.e. they refer to the constitutional and league matches and should not be positioned in the portion headed "W G Clement .. challenge cups". (Carried)
Welsh League
The Cardiff teams in the Welsh League had a good season with the Cardiff (A) team winning Division 1 and a prize of 300.

Cowbridge Club
An application was made by Cowbridge to enter teams in the Cardiff
League with the possibility of playing their matches on a Sunday. This
was accepted by the meeting.
Any other business
There being no further business the Chairman closed the meeting at 9:20pm.
A vote of thanks was made by Andres Gibson to the Chairman and Committee for the way in which the League was run.
